PLEXIGLAS®: for Bright Rooms and an Ideal Room Climate

  • Bright rooms and an ideal room climate with PLEXIGLAS® molding compound

  • Reduced energy requirement for air-conditioning units and artificial lighting

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Darmstadt, Germany - Daylight at the workplace is crucial for employees' well-being and performance. But strong sunlight leads to heat buildup indoors, resulting in high energy costs for air-conditioning units. The new shading elements made from transparent PLEXIGLAS® molding compound solve this problem and provide bright rooms with an ideal climate.

Total reflection through prism structure

The transparent sheets are extruded from a special grade of PLEXIGLAS® molding compound with excellent flow and extremely accurate mold surface reproduction. The lamellar sunblinds made from this material have a 90° prism structure that provides total reflection of direct sunlight. They keep out the heat of the sun and allow diffuse daylight to enter the room. Interiors stay pleasantly bright and naturally airconditioned even when the blinds are closed. That reduces the energy requirement for air-conditioning units and artificial lighting.

Variety of possible applications

The transparent blinds are a functional shading solution for many different applications: indoor and outdoor blinds, vertical sunblinds, glazed roofs and domes, and in greenhouses. Conservatories can also be easily retrofitted with such shading. This dispenses with the need for outdoor awnings that make rooms darker and are exposed to wind and weather.

Transparent shading elements made from PLEXIGLAS® molding compound make for pleasant daylighting combined with a good room climate in a multitude of applications.
